She is the author of The Embroiderer's Country Album, The Embroiderer's Countryside, The Timeless Art of Embroidery, and The Myth & Magic of Embroidery. She is also a member of the Society of Women Artists, and in 1990 received a commission from the House of Commons; Stevens remains the only artist ever to have a textile piece become part of the Palace of Westminster collection. She lives in Suffolk, England.
