Andrew Bett takes a new look at why salmon take a fly in fresh water: a new theory and its practical application for the fly fisherman who owns a barometer. The author's theory predicted a repertoire of salmon behaviour which was later confirmed to his satisfaction in seven years of study. He also claims support from as yet unpublished research, and describes analogous barometric phenomena apparently observable in aquatic insects. The book also addresses the same question to trout and sea trout fishing.
