   Description
Widowed Gail Kiskadden, depressed and lost after the death of her twenty year old son, John, is confronted with the fact he has been secretly married. She searches out the girl, brings her back to Minneapolis, and tries to establish some sort of confidence and affection. But Sherry Lee's presence brings about an abrasive haunting by whistling and through ventriloquist's dummies; a man is killed; Gail cannot turn the girl out when her pregnancy becomes dangerous and the baby, when born, becomes another weapon. His kidnapping brings the climax and safety for Gail. The restlessness and urgency of terror keep this chill and taut.
