The Personal Academic: A Personal Approach to Writing Academic Essays

We must, from day one, encourage students to express themselves. We have to teach them that in college, they count. Here, their ideas matter. Their writing should thus not be just for the teacher, but for their whole community. In this textbook, students learn that their writing needs to be honest, purposeful, critical, and creative. Through this text they are able to find their voice, write with authority, and importantly, write with passion and engagement.
