The Darkness II is an action first person shooter with supernatural horror elements. The game, inspired by the comic book series by Top Cow Productions, Inc., was developed by Digital Extremes and published by 2K in 2012.Become the DarknessThe plot of The Darkness II focuses on Jackie Estacado - the new head of the Fracettis, a New York crime family - whose memories of the recently murdered girlfriend won’t leave him alone. Possessed by the evil forces of chaos, known as the Darkness, Jackie has to fight the mysterious Brotherhood organization and his own demons alike.Jackie wields a mysterious force granting him some supernatural powers as well as a pair of Demon Arms with unique abilities. He can also use various firearms and throwables in order to destroy everyone that opposes him. The Darkness II’s gameplay includes dynamic fights, where your strategy is just as important as your dexterity - because your dark powers are available only in the shadows, careful planning and smart usage of the environment are a must. RPG elements are also present, with enemy killings, executions, collecting relics and other activities providing Essence, which can be used to purchase various character upgrades.Together in the darkWhile the main campaign of Jackie’s story can and should be played in single player mode, The Darkness II features a multiplayer co-op mode for up to four players as well. The multiplayer campaign, called Vendettas, runs parallel to the game’s main story.
