If you like racing around the track with crazy cars and other vehicles that can convert to water or air faring versions, and if that passion is coupled with the urge to blow your opponents off the track to own it, then you will certainly take a shine to Sonic & All Star Racing Transformed. The racing video game is a sequel to the very popular 2010 game called Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing. The game is brought to you by Sega and is available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game has a PEGI rating of 7. The racing game is mainly more focused on the fun factor of having familiar characters race against each other on insanely stylized tracks with weapons for offence and defense. The mascot based racing game involves vehicles that resemble kart racers. The characters used in the game are from various other Sega titles that is sure to make things more enjoyable for gamers on the whole. The Sonic & All Star Racing Transformed features new game mechanics like vehicle transformation to suit the terrain. This means that, during the course of the race, if you travel of the road and wish to go over water, the car will transform into a water faring vehicle and the same is true for flying as well. The car transforms into a plane for flight and the race continues in that manner. The Sonic & All Star Racing Transformed is a Single and Multiplayer game with Split Screen capabilities to accommodate two players or more offline. Players can also connect online to play against different people over the internet as well. The PS3 version of the Sonic & All Star Racing Transformed is a well designed game keeping in mind fun and excitement when it comes to the true casual gaming experience. The game features an internal combat system where, within each race itself, players can choose to fire weapons at their opponents in an attempt to disrupt their race progress, or better yet, knock them out of the race. The game also features special modes where players can unlock power ups and skills that can be used to give them an edge over their opponents and win them the race. The vehicles can automatically transform into other forms by driving or flying through what are known as transformation gates, these gates unlock the new modes of the vehicles and are very important in progressing along the levels of the race. For example, if a bridge over a river gets knocked out, then the transformation gates come in handy when you need to convert your car into a jet boat that can easily traverse over the water body and continue the race. Simply charging along a new surface is not enough, for the game mechanics are tweaked such that the physics change for every terrain. The player has to take many things into account before maneuvering the craft in air or water, taking time to consider the physics involved in each medium. The water for example is turbulent and calm depending on the stretch you traverse over, and the level of turbulence allows you to to launch into the air and perform stunts, if the conditions prove right. The game also features something known as the All-Star meter that, when filled up enables you to perform special abilities similar to the previous title. One major change that Sonic & All Star Racing Transformed carries that is not available in the previous title is that players can use the All-Star abilities even in multiplayer mode. The single player adventure mode featured in the game allows you to unlock characters and vehicle upgrades. The multiplayer mode allows you to connect with other players across the globe thanks to the PS Network and helps in making the Sega game, a wholesome experience.
