Role-Playing Simulations: Middle School World History - Ancient Times to the Renaissance

Thirteen standards-based simulations place students in critical historical situations, with an emphasis on building group or individual problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. The activities include an archaeology lab, inventing a writing system, designing a monument to a pharaoh, writing a letter home as a Roman soldier, interviewing a crusader, and more. Over 100 intriguing "what if?" critical thinking questions close the volume. Most simulations take one to two class periods to complete, and all may stand alone.
