Repentance: The Saint and Society

Every Godly Christian must admit that the past few decades have been days of the superficial. We have been drifting away from biblical authority at an alarming pace. Consequently, there has been a departure from the doctrines of salvation, and most especially, the doctrine of repentance. A sinner must first be saved through “repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.” Then this saint continues in a life of obedience with a repentant heart. That attitude of ongoing repentance is necessary for receiving God’s grace and power for the Christian life and service. One cannot be in a position of disobedience and have the peace and joy of the Christlike life. Dr. Boone says, “My purpose for writing this book is to place the emphasis on what has been lost to many today. This is the essential Bible doctrine of repentance. I also hope to show its necessity for salvation, as well as for victory in the Christian life.” We are witnessing today, a church that is becoming impotent when it comes to impacting our society for Jesus Christ. Although there are thousands of congregations throughout the world that are attracting millions each week, there is little positive change in the average Christian’s life. As you read this book on repentance, you will begin to see why Christ is likely sadly disappointed in the state of His church. May you prayerfully read and meditate on every thought put forth and then determine if repentance is needed in your own life. Then, as you find yourself totally surrendered to His will, ask what He would have you do for Him.
