Redemption History Through Covenants

God the Father, from all eternity, has decreed to save his elect through the redeeming work of Christ, and the application of it to them by the sovereign power of the Holy Spirit. By a series of covenants – which he made with Noah, Abraham, Israel through Moses, and David – God has progressively revealed this eternal plan throughout history, until, at the appointed time, Christ fulfilled the old, Mosaic covenant, thus rendering it obsolete and establishing the new covenant.
