Team WIBY's Phantom Abyss is an asynchronous multiplayer roguelite video game in which the players are sent into the titular abyss to explore temples hidden within and collect various treasures. The gameplay of Phantom Abyss focuses on the exploration of the procedurally generated temples and locating one of the hidden relics. Throughout the run, the players have to be wary of the traps littering the temple floors and guardians who will stop at nothing to hunt down the trespassers. The asynchronous multiplayer feature allows the player to see the "phantoms" of other players and learn from their successes and failures. The hunt for relics begins In Phantom Abyss, each temple constitutes a separate run. Exploring the ruins, avoiding death traps, and running away from the temple guardians will be the main activities the player will be engaged in. The main goal of each temple is finding and claiming a relic. There are several of them scattered around the temples. Claiming the treasure ends the run, so the player should consider whether it's wise to grab the first one they bump into or look for better loot. On the other hand, dawdling around increases the chance of getting caught in a trap or falling victim to ruthless guardians. Learn from other hunters' runs Phantom Abyss is a massive asynchronous multiplayer game, which means players will sometimes bump into each other. The player will see those who also tried to complete the temple as the titular "phantoms." By observing their runs, the player might gain insight into clearing an obstacle, avoiding a trap, or figuring out a relic's location. Blessings of the gods and other valuable items Throughout the gameplay, the player will encounter items other than the coveted relics. The items include keys hidden in the chests located around the temples. Said keys unlock new floors filled with brilliant treasures and deadly traps. Other useful items in the game are blessings of the gods: various perks given to the player in exchange for collected relics. These include skills such as double jump, glide jump, and many more, which will help the player during the run. Last but not least, there are the player's whips, which carriy a blessing or a curse - unlocking them can bring good luck during the run or foil the player's plans.
