From the Introduction of this 403-page book: "In the preface of Marcus Bachman Lambert's 'Pennsylvania German Dictionary', originally published in 1924, the author included the observation that no dictionary had ever been published that included both English to Pennsylvania German and Pennsylvania German to English. Now, Dr. Stine, almost seven decades later, brings this first-ever dual language dictionary, containing more than 21,000 Pennsylvania German words and their English counterparts. Dr. Stine has prepared a descriptive and not a prescriptive dictionary, in which the Lehigh-Northampton County variant of Pennsylvania German is the dominant version of the dialect. The author has taken care, however, to include significant differences from other areas, such as the Lancaster-York County and Schuylkill-Dauphin County regions." Included is a pronunciation guide for vowels, diphthongs and consonants.
