Patolas and Resist-Dyed Fabrics in India

One of the most highly sought after textile exports from India was patola, a silk double-ikat from Gujarat, where both warp and weft were dyed before weaving into the desired patterns. In layman's terms, the threads for weaving were tied together and dyed selectively.
