A new font inspired by Italian Medieval and Renaissance hand-lettering. The PM Tarot typeface series began as a small personal project of digitizing the hand-lettering of the Rider-Waite Tarot. But over a six-month period in 2023, it expanded to 5 unique typefaces with many style variations. With all the typefaces in the PM Tarot series, we've stayed true to the quirkiness and unique structure of the original lettering by including hundreds of alternate characters and ligatures. Even the clean, modern versions of the typefaces in the series maintain unique variations found in the original hand-lettering that deviate from standard type classifications. The PM Tarot Manuscript letterforms are based on Italian Medieval and Renaissance lettering found in notebooks, journals, and hand-lettered manuscripts. This modern interpretation attempts to capture the style of the original letterforms while maintaining readability for modern design use.
