The author provides an overview of such writers as W.R.D. Fairbairn, D.W. Winnicott, Otto Kernberg, Melanie Klein, Margaret S. Mahler, and Heinz Kohut, and illustrates their work with case studies, as well as summarizing, comparing and contrasting their work.
