Emily Prescott is looking forward to her senior year of high school. Two weeks before the start of school, tragedy strikes for her small family and their lives are turned upside down. Now, she has to drive her fifteen-year-old brother, Jake, to school every day. Jake has Down syndrome and a very unique, and sometimes embarrassing, way of expressing himself. While watching how Jake's interactions gradually transform the life of a troubled new student, Emily learns to appreciate just how powerful his communication can be, even without words.
