As a kid growing up in a primitive Romanian village, Sholom Hersh often dreamed of living in America. What he never imagined was the nightmare he would have to endure first. But in 1944, at the age of fifteen, he was introduced to the darkest side of adversity when Nazis wrenched him and his family from their home at gunpoint and condemned them to the horrors of Auschwitz.
