My Favorite Collections: Measurement and Data

This kindergarten unit in the Contexts for Learning Mathematics series focuses on the early development of measurement, data, and representation and is aligned with the CCSS measurement and data objectives for kindergarten and the data objective for grade 1. The unit begins with comparisons that don't require exact measurements but where something might be depicted in comparison to another, for example as larger than, heavier than, etc. This unit is also designed to support children to sort in mutually exclusive categories, to determine the quantity of objects in the categories, and to compare the sets in relation to each other.
