Gothic è un videogioco di ruolo d'azione per giocatore singolo per Windows sviluppato dalla società tedesca Piranha Bytes. È stato rilasciato per la prima volta in Germania il 15 marzo 2001, seguita dalla versione inglese e nordamericana otto mesi dopo, il 23 novembre 2001, e dalla versione polacca il 28 marzo 2002. Gothic è stato ben accolto dalla critica, con una media dell'80% e 81/100 rispettivamente nei dati aggregati di Game Rankings e Metacritic. I recensori hanno attribuito al gioco la sua storia, la complessa interazione con altri personaggi del gioco e la grafica, ma lo hanno criticato per il difficile schema di controllo e gli elevati requisiti di sistema.
