Flatlined 2 NGauge is the autobiography of Dewayne Rembert. His grandmother was his primary caregiver; his mom was in and out of his life; there was no dad. The only major male influences in his life were alcoholics. His grandmother took him to church, but he never heard the gospel. She stopped going to church because of her fading health around Dewayne’s junior year of high school. Dewayne became filled with so much anger. His first remembrance of interaction with the church was when a lady there was when told him sternly, “Boy, pull your pants up and get them earrings out your ear: you’re going to hell.” Later on, in his teenage years, he watched as a preacher at a neighborhood gambling/shot house gambled and drank. From that point on his perception of the church was completely warped. Then, there was the incident with a high school administrator that occurred in Dewayne’s eleventh grade year: he was with two of his of his friends and the administrator asked both of them about their futures, mentioning the necessary paperwork and steps to gain admission to college and the military, yet he never acknowledged Dewayne. From that moment on, he didn’t care what happened to him anymore; after all, it had been confirmed to him that he was a loser, a nobody. At that point, he became involved in everything bad: stealing from stores and homes, being sexually immoral, dabbling in the drug game, pretty much everything but rape and murder. Despite all this, he graduated and moved to Montgomery where he ended up becoming the General Manager of a well-known chain in the hotel business. Today he serves as Ministry Resident for Montgomery Baptist Association, Youth Pastor at Strong Tower Church at Washington Park, and the founder of Flatline Movement. Dewayne is married to his wonderful wife Leslie and is the father of three children: Devin age 16, Dorian age 13 and Journi age 7.
