CREATING HAND-CARVED DIGITAL ILLUSTRATIONS Each linocut illustration begins with a drawing on linoleum or a carving block. The image is hand-carved using traditional linocut tools. The next step the best part involves printing the linocut on paper to reveal its unique graphic quality. We use non-toxic water soluble inks for printing. The print is then scanned to create a digital file. Once the image is digitized we enhance it using Photoshop and Illustrator. This technique allows us to play with colour, add text and fine-tune the illustration while maintaining its handmade character. We always include transparent background PNG files as well as Illustrator 10 EPS vector files.
