There isn't a choral conductor alive who doesn't have something to learn from Howard Swan about the choral craft - or its passengers. He knows so much about what makes a conductor good and a chorus great - and how to get there from here - that it's absolutely mystifying why both things don't happen more often. If you're interested in being a better conductor - or even a better person - buy the book. If you don't notice an immediate improvement, you'll at least know where the trouble lies.
