Sejah dahulu buah ini digunakan oleh masyarakat Cina dan Melayu sebagai obat tradisional dan campuran untuk bahan jamu.
Buah ini mempunyai banyak khasiat menyembuhkan beberapa penyakit yaitu
1. Demam
2. Panas dalam
3. Batuk berkepanjangan
4. Penyegar badan
5. Ambeien
6. Perut panas disertai tinja berdarah dan berlendiri
7. Sariawan
8. Asma
9. Penyubur kandungan
10. Sakit lambung
11. Amandel
12. Randang tenggorokan
Cara pembuatan
1. Ambil 1 sd 3 biji Buah Tempayang
2. Cuci Buah Tempayang sampai bersih
3. Rendam Buah Tempayang dengan air panas di dalam gelas (disarankan air rebusan di kompor)
4. Tunggu sampai Buah Tempayang mengembang dengan sempurna
5. Bersihkan kulit beserta bijinya
6. Minum air beserta jellynya/agar-agarnya.
