The retro parody Game Breath of Death VII brings back the golden age of role-playing games. The four- to six-hour, retro-themed role-playing Game Breath of Death VII makes a mockery of the entire genre. While continually poking fun at many of the traditional norms of role-playing games, this Game plays and looks a lot like the classic Nintendo Final Fantasy series. The puns and sarcastic allusions to popular and classic RPGs should make gamers laugh out loud. In the future depicted in Breath of Death VII, humanity has perished in a nuclear war and has been replaced by the undead. The Game follows the skeletal protagonist Dem as he assumes the position of the silent protagonist, a role that his lack of a mouth makes him well suited for. Gameplay In a fun adventure, players take control of four otherworldly heroes: Dem, the skeleton; Lita, the vampire; Sara, the ghost; and Erik, the zombie. They travel to a planet where being dead is the norm. The vast majority of Earth's inhabitants seem to naturally celebrate Halloween every day of the year as though some terrible calamity has befallen the planet. Ghoulies have taken over the globe, its people, and the bad guys, creating a wonderfully engaging 8bit environment to explore. The humour in Breath of Death VII is as essential to the Game's success as its technical accomplishments. Plot The idea behind the undead realm is intriguing, but unfortunately, there isn't much else that makes it stand out. Towns are useful as rest areas and a break from dungeon exploring, but they lack personality and people, and while dungeon settings are at least different, there isn't much that sticks out about them. However, the dungeon layouts are often excellent and a place where Breath of Death does triumph against Cthulhu. Due to their numerous branching routes and frequently having more than one possible exit, dungeons are fun to explore and seldom feel overly long. The world map doesn't offer as much freedom as the dungeons because the Game's plot is highly linear, but it does have several alternate dungeons to reward players that stray a little from the main path.
