Boiler Room

In 2007, I made my first typeface. I meticulously cut letters out of cardboard for months, and collected them in a freezer bag. I was attempting to teach mylself FontLab, and when after what seemed like years of work. I made my first typeface. I released it, with a sense of accomplishment. It was finished. Complete. But it haunted me. First it lacked an ampersand, and the numbers didn't appear to be of the same family as the letters. I revised and uploaded it over and over through the years. It consumed me, my thoughts, my dreams. Until one day I had enough. I destroyed this beautiful thing I had built, and I realized that in that destruction it had finally reached perfection.
