Blue Nights

Blue Nights: Photographs by George Hirose with an Introduction by Norman Mailer is a collection of photographs of Provincetown taken at night with long camera exposures, revealing colors and moods unseen by the naked eye. In his introduction, Mailer, a resident of Provincetown for most of his life, writes, "Like Joel Meyerowitz, [Hirose] is a photographer with the instincts of a hunter. One stalks the desired result, one waits, one does not dictate the given, one looks rather to meet it."
