Battle Portraits: Wounded Lions Wounded Lambs

Battle Portraits: Wounded Lions Wounded Lambs is an artist's response to the internal, emotional turmoil of those searching to find their way back home from war. Artist Laura BenAmots says about this project: When I heard about the suicide rates among returning service men and women about four years ago I was deeply impacted. I felt compelled to do something, so I drew . . . . That is what artists do, the way that we process information and reflect it back to the world. The drawings quickly led me back to the canvas, and ultimately led to greater personal contact with individual soldiers. This book is about the artwork, the artist's process and the soldiers. A portion of the book's proceeds will be shared between the Military Creative Expressions Art Therapy Program (a collaboration of the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center Bemis Art School and Aspen Pointe) and other art therapy programs.
