This 25-hour Quest reveals the events between Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II. Siege of Dragonspear was released on July 10, 2015, as a bridge between the events of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn at a live event sponsored by Beamdog. The expansion was designed to compete with the Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast and Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal expansions. The Forgotten Realms of Baldur's Gate significantly differed from the most current version of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. Thus Game authors Amber Scott and Andrew Foley had an arduous task to ensure that the narrative of Siege of Dragonspear adhered to the second edition canon.
