As England recovers from the traumas of the Second World War, and an air of austerity descends, life returns to normal for our most beloved vet James Herriot, in the beautiful and remote Yorkshire Dales. And normal for James - and his volatile but warm-heated partner Siegfried - is mainly uncooperative animals and even more uncooperative owners. But some things have changed, and with Tristan having landed a job in the Ministry of Agriculture, a new vet, Calum, joins the practice - arriving by motorcycle and, most appropriately, with a badger in his luggage.
