As with PS CS6 Impastoshop will work with PS CS5 but not as a panel extension just using its brushes, layer styles and actions. The major difference is that Photoshop brushes engine is not the very same in CS5 as in CS6 and later versions, the behaviour of the brushes may vary slightly, that's why I don't recommend it at all.
