A Syllabus of Chinese Civilization

This syllabus provides a guide for teachers and students of introductory courses in Chinese civilization, as well as for the general reader. There are two chronological outlines, one of traditional and one of modern history, which covers political, institutional, intellectual, and cultural history. Suggested text and collateral readings are given, and there are lists of questions for discussion. There are also a pronunciation guide, a glossary of terms, a guide to illustrative materials available for classroom use, and seven maps.
