A Century of Design

This text provides a designer-by-designer review of the 20th-century, placed within a historical context that reveals the connections between designers and the major design movements from around the world. Eighty designers are discussed, with features on their major works and sources of inspiration. There are also discussions of some of the most important technical innovations of the century, such as the development of tubular steel and plastic. Special features focus on key events in international design, including the 1925 Paris Exhibition and the Milan Triennales of the 1950s, and a directory of manufacturers is provided.
