Other Tales is a collection of sixteen alternative, sex-positive fairy tales. Stories include “Andersen’s ‘The Little Mermaid’: The Wicked Woman Version,” “The Little Mermaid: The Sacred Version,” “Ruby and Romulus,” “The Prince Rejected,” “Jill and the Beanstalk,” “Beau and the Beast,” “Sleeping Beauty’s Escape from Date Rape,” “The Twelfth Princess,” “Snow White and the Huntsgirl,” “The Frog and the Transgender Prince,” “Hansel and Gregory,” “Lenora’s Prince,” “Jane’s Knight,” “P Pan and Beyondland,” “The Mirror,” and “Anton, the Steadfast Soldier, and Tatiana, the Steadfast Dancer.” Stories like “Ruby and Romulus” and “The Twelfth Princess” feature sexually empowered female protagonists. Whereas, stories like “Beau and the Beast” and “Snow White and the Huntsgirl” feature gay and lesbian protagonists, and “The Frog and the Transgender Prince” features a transgender young man, and “P Pan and Beyondland” features a range of characters who identify as LGBTQQIAA+. “P Pan and Beyondland” was turned into a play, and the play was performed as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Arts Festival in September 2018.
