When the dead take to their feet on a sinister mission to transform as many of the living into the animated corpses that they are, what hope is left for humanity and who will come to mankind’s rescue? A single-player/multiplayer third-person shooter game for the PS3, Dead Space 3 has been developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts. Rated 16 by PEGI, Dead Space 3 follows Isaac Clarke, a brilliant ship systems engineer, and John Carver, a gritty soldier in the Earth Defense Force, both of whom have to go face-to-face against the reanimated Necromorph threat as they traverse the depths of space to find the source of the Necromorph outbreak. After Isaac crash lands on a frigid planet named Tau Volantis, he must scour the extreme planet for scavenged parts and raw materials in order to create survival tools and customized weapons that will help him on his journey to put an end to the Necromorph scourge. The gameplay of Dead Space 3 sees the player controlling Isaac Clarke as he battles evolved Necromorphs and the deadly elements of Tau Volantis. There are two modes that can be played, i.e., Single-player Mode and Cooperative Mode; the latter can only be played online. In contrast to the traditional gameplay of the Single-player Mode, the Cooperative Mode, otherwise referred to as Drop In-Drop Out Online Co-Op, allows two players to participate in the campaign simultaneously; while the first player controls Isaac Clarke, the other controls John Carver. Furthermore, the Cooperative Mode gives greater insight into the storyline and enhances the overall gameplay. Also, the controls have been improved from Dead Space 2; apart from the smooth player movement, players can also perform rolls and duck when necessary.
